2010 BOWL-A-THON Hey, Everybody, Guess what time it is!
This is an exciting time of year at RHCS! We are about to kick off our 2010 Bowl-a-Thon! What is a Bowl-a-Thon you might ask? Each year the students at RHCS collect pledges from friends and family to help us reach a goal. In previous years we have raised up to nearly $30,000 with this one school-wide fund raiser. All students from K-4 to 12th grade are encouraged to participate. Some of the projects we have completed with the use of the Bowl-a-Thon money are new carpet, blinds and air conditioning for elementary classrooms, an updated computer lab, a new playground and a large part of the new kitchen.
We need a lot of parent volunteers to make this successful. If you are interested in helping please email Amy Zolno at amont641@aol.com or call 248.977.3961. If you are helping bowlers & would like to be on your child’s lane, be sure to call early. Lanes assignments are made on a first come first serve basis. Every parent volunteer will receive 3 family service hours for the am session, and/or 3 hours for the pm session. In order to receive hours, all helpers MUST be within chaperone dress guidelines.
WHAT is the Bowl-a-thon?
The Bowl-a-thon is a fun-filled fundraising event that everyone can enjoy. From K4 to 12th grade and parent to teachers, everyone can get wrapped up in the excitement of making our school the best it can be.
WHEN is the Bowl-a-thon?
Thursday March 18th, 2010. Students from K4 –12 will take a bus ride to the bowling alley (Troy Lanes) for a fun and exciting morning or afternoon of bowling. When the bowling is finished, the children will be returned to school by bus. The afternoon is expected to end at approximately 3:00 p.m.
HOW does the Bowl-a-thon work?
• A kick off pep rally will be held to explain the Bowl-a-thon. You are welcome to attend.
• Each participating child will invite friends and family to sponsor our fundraiser.
• Each sponsor may choose to pledge your child with a per pin pledge or with a fixed amount pledge. Fixed amount pledges must be collected at the time the pledge is made. (Please make checks payable to Rochester Hills Christian School.
• After the sponsor fills out the pledge envelope, the student will return the completed envelope to his or her teacher. Be sure to complete all the required information on the envelope to ensure accurate records for winner accuracy and tax purposes.
• Let the games begin. For those who wish to bowl but do not want to collect pledges, you may do so by donating $25.00 to Rochester Hills Christian School to defray the cost of lunch and bowling.
• Collect your pledges. After you bowl, you will have one week to collect all your pledges. Be sure to turn them in to your teacher as quickly as possible.
• Pledge amounts will be totaled and tracked for prizes and awards. After the event a pep rally will be held and prizes will be given to all those who participate.
What kind of incentives and awards do we have?
Each week, the top two donation contributors will win a prize and 5 raffle tickets.
The winning class will earn a special party.
All students that participate will have an ice cream party.
In order to add some new excitement, we have some really great prizes that the students are sure to enjoy.
Raffle Prizes include:
For every $25 above the $50 level - 5 tickets
For every $100 in donations - 10 tickets
Every student in the winning classroom - 10 tickets
